Wiring Defect Detection and Location

 

 

Reliability of cabling is an increasing constraint of modern systems: aircraft, vessels, trains or energy systems. From generation to generation the number of essential signals ever grows on these platforms. A wiring failure stops the equipment and costs a lot. This situation must be avoided and, if not possible, must be shortened to the minimum.

WiDD capabilities are extensive, ranging from simple failures like opens, ground faults, and short circuits; to more complex ones such as insulation problems, bad clamping, inappropriate bend radii, and non-declared repair operations... WIDD can be used on harnesses from a few wires to hundreds of wires and on all types of cables: single wire, coaxial, twin axial, twisted pair, shielded...

 

WiDD uses two technologies :

    • With the combined action of the LCR meter and a high quality switching matrix, WiDD is the most efficient to characterize test equipment (Inductance, Capacitance, and Resistance).

    • WiDD works with advanced reflectometry technology to detect and locate faults, including intermittent, with an accuracy of 1m for one cable of 100m.

WiDD detects and locates both hard and intermittent wiring faults with high precision, in a very short time.

 

Widd does even more: it follows the wear of a harness over its lifetime and to operate in time

 

WiDD perform the test of a harness by disconnecting only one end: the equipments still connected do not risk any damage. New breakdowns, too frequent, due to disassembly and reassembly of the connectors are thus avoided.

WiDD performs automatic archiving of measurements according to an original value (or reference), this is important to keep track of the cables or electrical harnesses life and thus anticipate failures.

 

By reducing or eliminating downtime, WiDD significantly reduces repair, maintenance and downtime costs.

 

 

Single version : 64 channels and I-WiDD fault finding function

 

Three versions :

  • Standard Version: 64 RLC channels + 64 reflectometry channels (C-WiDD + i-WiDD functions)
  • Full RLC Version: 128 RLC channels (C-WiDD function)
  • Full Reflectometry Version: 128 Reflectometry channels (i-WiDD function)
